Welcome to our website. It seems "Hurricane season" is always right around the corner and we look forward to the excitement that each new football season brings.
We will use our website to post updates that help us communicate what is going on with our program, our teams and our league.
We encourage communication and ask that you use this site as often as you like to stay current and up-to-date on Mount Olive Hurricanes Youth Football.

Founded in 1991,
our program is in existence to provide quality, organized athletic opportunities to the youth of our area.
A member in good standing of the Neuse River Youth Football League, we serve children between the ages of 5 and 12 in our football and cheerleading programs.
Participant Divisions:
• Ages 5-6, Flag (in house)
• Ages 7-8, Tackle
• Ages 9-10, Tackle
• Ages 11-12, Tackle
• Ages 5-12, Cheerleading
Our goals are to have fun, and to teach the fundamentals of football as our teams participate in a competitive environment.
Teaching proper football fundamentals instills the core values such as respect, honesty, loyalty, integrity, hard work, commitment, fellowship, faith, self discipline, team work, toughness, sportsmanship and self confidence. We emphasize these values as the building blocks of success, both athletically and academically.
Most importantly, we believe these building blocks to be the keys to their successes long after our participants' youth football days are behind them.
As an organization that prides itself in being out front in the sportsmanship category, we require that our Coaches, Players, Cheerleaders and Parents act as positive role models within our organization and toward our competitors.
Through the years we have seen numerous changes but one thing has remained constant - the outstanding support from our community. This support particularly from parents, local businesses and schools has allowed us to grow, improve and continue to offer youth football in our area. Thank you to all Mount Olive Hurricane supporters!

How much does it cost?
Each year the fee is determined before registration.
What is the time commitment for player and parents?
Compared to other sports the time commitment for football is quite a bit more. Practices begin August 1 and each practice usually lasts 1.5 to 2 hours. Once the season begins practices are still held regularly around games. Our season usually ends around the first week of November. Tackle games are usually held on Monday or Tuesday nights and occasionally on Saturdays. Flag games are usually scheduled for Thursdays and Saturdays.
The time commitment is so different from other sports. Why so much practice?
Attendance at practice is critical for the safety and well being of each player and it affects the morale of the whole team. Football is a highly organized building block sport which requires thought, timing and coordination among all participants. These things can only be acquired through practice. Missing practice will mean missing important fundamentals and instruction. Your commitment is crucial.
What are parents expected to do?
In addition to getting players to practices and games on time parents are required to volunteer at least 4 hours per player in the program. Volunteers are our lifeblood and help make football affordable and possible. WE NEED YOUR HELP! There are many jobs to be done during the season. Volunteering allows our coaches to do what they do best-Coach! Please see our "Volunteer Here" section on this site.
Where are games played and practices held?
Flag games are played at our field along with the scheduled home games of our tackle divisions. Away games sites are determined each year. Drive times to away games are no more than 40 minutes (usually much less). Practices are held at our field.
What equipment do I have to provide?
Rubber soled football cleats and an athletic supporter and cup if desired. Other football gear will be issued.
Is the issued equipment mine to keep?
No! All issued equipment is owned by Mount Olive Hurricanes Youth Football Inc. It is the sole responsibility of the player and guardian to keep up with said equipment, care for it properly and return it in clean, working order at the end of the season.
Is an admission fee charged
at the games?
Yes. The admission fee is set yearly by the league.
When and where can I sign up?
Please look to this website and the sports sections of local newspapers (Mount Olive Tribune, Mount Olive Messenger, and Goldsboro News Argus) for registration dates, times and places. This will usually take place in July.
